Mississauga water damage, fire & mould restoration
If your Mississauga home floods, call 911 if you are in danger, do not try to shut off power while water is present, and call Alectra if water rose above outlets, baseboards or the furnace. Then contact your insurer. Guardian extracts the water, dries the structure and documents the loss.
Who to call in Mississauga
- Immediate danger, rescue or evacuation help: call 911.
- Electricity: the City advises not to attempt shutting off electricity if any water is present. Leave and do not return until authorities say it is safe.
- Water above outlets, baseboards or the furnace: after leaving, call Alectra at 1-833-253-2872 to report it.
- Blocked catch basins and street flooding: report them to the City's Citizen Contact Centre at 311 or online.
- Insurance: the City suggests speaking to your insurance provider about what your policy covers and keeping a detailed inventory of what you own.
Before you use anything again
The City's guidance is not to re-enter a flooded home until authorities say it is safe, and not to use appliances, heating, pressure or sewage systems until a qualified electrician has cleaned, dried and inspected them. Floodwater can be heavily contaminated with sewage and other pollutants, so keep contact with it to a minimum.
Flood watches and warnings
In Mississauga, flood watches and warnings are issued by Credit Valley Conservation and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. A watch means flooding is possible; a warning means it is about to happen or already happening.
Where Guardian fits
A plumber, the municipality or the region deals with the pipe or sewer itself. Guardian deals with what the water has already reached: we extract it, map moisture in floors and walls, run monitored drying, and keep photo and moisture records for your insurer. We also handle fire and smoke damage and mould remediation.
